I know that several of my Grady Classmates were closer to Chuck, especially in our Junior and Senior Years, but Chuck and I were very close friends from our years at Spring Street School and being in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts toghther. We played together all the time [I lived on Flager Avenue (still do) and he lived on Piedmont Way. I will always remember how very considerate and loving he was to his special needs younger brother, Dicky. I'll always remember him as a good friend and playmate.
I knew Chuck from Grady as he was a friend of Wilbur Blackburn who was a very close friend of mind. He was the last Grady alumi that I have seen and that was over 30 plus year ago. He married the daughter of the owner of Thompson Floral Supply in Greer, SC area and was learning the business from his father in law. I called on him for some time and then he opened his own floral supply business in Greenville, SC. Chuck was a very nice and sharp individual that loved to laugh.
